Focus on French & Making Music: Workshops for Homeschooling Families
Community Christian School is excited to introduce the newest addition to our Learning Links Programs - French and Music Homeschooling Workshops. CCS will partner with parents in the fields of music and French as a second language. Our workshops for homeschooled children will be taught by certified teachers with small group sizes to ensure a high-quality experience for your child/ren. Parents will receive outlines of long-range plans and learning objectives for each workshop and students who complete the workshops will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of each session.
Thursdays, October 3rd - December 5th, 2019 (10 weeks) 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Focus on French Workshop (Ages 5-9)
Bonjour mes amis! Through interactive activities and drama, students will develop their French language skills with a focus on speaking and oral comprehension. An emphasis will be placed on conversational French, and on asking and answering questions relevant to the interests of children aged 5 to 9. French will be taught in a fun and engaging environment where students feel safe taking risks! This workshop is taught by a certiﬁed teacher with French as a second language certiﬁcation.
Making Music Workshop – Introduction to Bucket Drumming (Ages 5-9)
You’ve got rhythm! Come and explore musical rhythms and introductory drumming concepts. This is a fun and exciting introduction to bucket drumming. Learn foundational musical concepts with a focus on rhythmic patterns. Students will explore playing, composing and performing. Buckets and drum sticks are provided at each lesson, but can also be purchased for a nominal fee to continue the fun and learning at home. This workshop is guided by a certiﬁed teacher with a Bachelor of Music degree.

Salut tout le monde! In this workshop, students will have the opportunity to participate in and create sketches and drama pieces to help them practice interacting in French while growing conﬁdence in the language. French will be taught in a fun and engaging environment where students feel safe taking risks! This workshop is taught by a certiﬁed teacher with French as a second language certiﬁcation.
Making Music Workshop –Introduction to the Ukulele (Ages 10-13)
Learn to play the ukulele! Explore foundational musical concepts while learning to play this fun and popular instrument. This workshop provides a great opportunity to introduce your child to music lessons or a wonderful way to apply musical knowledge to a new instrument. Gain experience playing as a solo musician and as a part of an ensemble. A ukulele will be provided for your child to use at each lesson. No musical experience? No problem, uke can do it! This workshop is taught by a certiﬁed teacher with a Bachelor of Music degree.
*On Thursday, October 24, 2019, we will host an Open House Session where your family is welcome to stay and observe your students, enjoy our outdoor playground, and join us for coffee, tea, and snacks. More details will be sent to families prior to the Open House event. Please note that at this time we are unable to accommodate younger/older siblings and/or parents during workshops. Families are welcome to come into the school during arrival/pick up times but due to a lack of space, we request that you do not stay on the premises while your child/ren attend their workshops.
